Football Expert Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's new record, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend soccer side," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.
So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their past four games.
My son told me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
They have got lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
